Sisters on the Run: Olivia and Scarlett Set New Personal Bests

After a summer spent recovering from a collarbone fracture, Olivia is back to running and setting new personal bests. With care from OFC’s Andrew McNamara, MD and support from the Performance Lab team, Olivia has continued working toward her goals, recently earning an impressive result at Twin Cities in Motion Marathon Weekend alongside her sister, Scarlett.

The sisters both delivered personal-best performances, making it a memorable weekend for the young runners.

Olivia completed the 10K in 47 minutes, placing first among 35 female runners ages 14–18 and 36th among 1,575 women overall. She also shaved 2 minutes and 12 seconds off her previous personal best.

Scarlett finished the 5K in 28 minutes, placing 19th among 136 female runners ages 9–13 and 146th among 1,718 women overall. She improved her previous personal best by 1 minute and 25 seconds.

For Olivia, the race was especially meaningful after months of recovery and a gradual return to the sport she loves.

A Team Approach to Recovery

Olivia broke her collarbone over the summer, requiring her to take a break from running for much of the season. Dr. McNamara monitored her healing progress to determine whether surgery would be necessary. Fortunately, her collarbone healed well on its own.

When Olivia was ready to return to activity in September, Dr. McNamara worked with the Performance Lab team to develop a training plan that accounted for her injury and allowed her to progress gradually.

The goal was to help Olivia rebuild her strength training routine while remaining mindful of her recovery. Her return to racing, followed by a new 10K personal best, was an exciting milestone after a summer on the sidelines.

Strength training at Performance Lab has also played an important role in Olivia’s development as a runner. Since beginning twice-weekly training in October 2025, she has focused on building strength, stability, and muscular endurance to support her running and other athletic pursuits.

Her progress was already evident in March 2026, when she completed her first half marathon at Disney in under two hours, beating her goal by three minutes. After navigating her injury and returning to competition this fall, she continues to build on that foundation.

Olivia’s mom, Stacy, has noticed a difference in her strength and endurance, sharing that Olivia feels stronger and that long-distance running has become more controlled and manageable. She has also appreciated the individualized attention and encouraging atmosphere at Performance Lab.

“The trainers are friendly, and there’s a great sense of community that makes Olivia look forward to training,” Stacy shared.

That supportive environment, combined with individualized training and coordinated care, has helped Olivia continue pursuing her goals while balancing the demands of running and other sports.

Sisters Who Keep Each Other Moving

Olivia isn’t the only one putting in the work. Scarlett recently began training at Performance Lab alongside her older sister, and the two frequently participate in races together.

Sharing a passion for running gives the sisters another way to encourage one another, celebrate milestones, and stay motivated as they work toward new goals.

Their performances at Twin Cities Marathon Weekend reflect the progress both athletes are making. With personal bests behind them and more goals ahead, they have plenty to be proud of.

At Performance Lab, athletes receive personalized strength and performance training designed to support their sport-specific needs and long-term development. For runners like Olivia and Scarlett, building a strong foundation can help support the demands of training and competition throughout the year.

Congratulations to Olivia and Scarlett on their outstanding performances. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish next!
