Dr. Perkinson’s professional interests include robotically-assisted knee and hip replacement; patient specific instrumented anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement; sports medicine and arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder including ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs, labral and rotator cuff repairs; hand surgery; as well as orthopaedic trauma.

About Dr. Perkinson


Dr. Perkinson is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine utilizing minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques; robotic joint replacement, including knee, hip, shoulder, and reverse shoulder replacement; hand surgery; and fracture care. He treats adult and pediatric patients of all ages and activity levels. As an athlete himself, Dr. Perkinson understands the importance of staying active and physically fit no matter your ability level.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Perkinson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota. He went on to earn his Medical Doctorate also from the University for Minnesota in Minneapolis. He completed his five-year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI.

Dr. Perkinson practiced in Owatonna, MN for 12 years serving as team physician for Owatonna High School Athletics during that time period. He served as Surgery Department Chair of Owatonna Hospital from 2017-2024, where he started the Robotic and Same-Day joint replacement programs in 2021 utilizing the Mako robotic system.

Dr. Perkinson joined Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic in 2025, where he serves area patients in the Mankato, Fairmont, Blue Earth, and surrounding communities. He offers surgical and non-surgical care for treatment of acute and chronic injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, knee, hip, and ankle.

Dr. Perkinson now lives in the Mankato community with his wife, Anna, and two sons, Ethan and Elliot. During his free time, he enjoys car racing, mountain biking, snowboarding, wakesurfing, running, weight-lifting, and Buckeye and Vikings football.
